help!!!! where can I buy a healthy used Auto Transmission
Its a 1995 sc400
My original transmission has burnt clutches, therefore its going to give up on me pretty soon.
Im looking for one used any ideas where I can buy one from?
Odometer reads 122000 miles current.
Here's a picture of my baby.
Thank you guys.

Everyones going to tell you to swap in a manual W58, including myself lol.
Either way, auto or manual, there's no one specific place to buy them. You'll just have to search around ClubLexus in the classifieds (or post a WTB ad), look on craigslist, or local junkyards to find one.

Thanks scENFORCER I will definetly be checking on craigslist and the junk yards. In the past I have come across two sc400 in the junk yard a couple of months ago but both of them where wrecked from the front end. Would it be difficult to go with the manual swap and whats the average price for a complete set?

The mechanical aspect of the swap is relatively easy, as there a number of kits out there; QuantumAuto, and 1UZFEswapkit.com sells them. Just be sure to do your research as I believe one of those companies has had issues recently. Or you could piece together all the components separately which will be cheaper.
The more difficult aspect will be the electrical, as I believe there are a few CEL's you'll need to get rid of. I think your '95 SC is OBD1 which does make it a lot easier.
Just be careful what you decide on. Be prepared to do A LOT of research and know every aspect of the W58 swap before you decide to jump into it. Dont do it just because some random guy on the internet told you to. Most SC400 owners are performance minded therefore want this swap, including myself. Search "sc400 5spd", "sc400 w58", "sc400 manual", etc in the 'advanced search' function on the top of this forum. There's a TON of threads detailing this swap.
As for price, I believe you're looking at around $2k for parts, a little less if you source our parts individually. I'd say maybe $1k more if you need a shop to install it for you.

i've been researching the W58 swap myself and with great luck the cheapest prices i've sourced would have cost me around $1100. i just don't have the money or time to do the swap right now so it's in the future for me. but i'd say just go ahead and go manual, it would cost less to replace the AT tranny but why would you want an auto if you already have a great reason to swap lol. mines still running great with 216k miles on it so i'm not worried yet. good luck on your search

Thanks again scENFORCER for your advice and Information. I will probably do the 5sp manual conversion somewhere in the future.
I will definetly need to do my research on the w58.
Money is tight right now. I got to save up.
Thanks oldMANTAN for the support.
