Default going E85 FUEL

hi, i have a sc300 with a 2jzgte swap, currently car is going to have a precision 6266 (for now) and later will have a 71mm.. however the main question is.... is it safe to run e85 daily? is there any problems on the long run? how should my fuel system look like for 700hp

Edited: You may want to consider is that the factory gas tank is *plastic* in Supra MKIV's (E85 friendly from the start) and metal in SC300/400/Soarers (not so E85 friendly so I understand).

(Sorry if I were that far off, guys. Much of my reading on E85 was from SF threads to educate myself on this alternative as well. Didn't mean any harm and I did direct the OP to seek out E85 build threads specifically).

Kahn, please refrain from regurgitating info you read somewhere and post experience. Your numbers are way off. When I made the switch it was more like 34% across the board to get back to stoich just at idle. iirc i started at 28% and kept dialing in more a small bit at a time until i liked what i sae. wot conditions even more.

If you plan to go ethanol, do not cheap out on the fuel system. Go overkill. Also, 71mm for 700 is retarded. You could have way more fun with a 64ish mm, hit same target goal and way more fun/response under the curve.

actually e85 is between 105 to 110 octane depending on blend , it its closer to 33% more fueling .. no concerns of e85 eating sc tanks .. e85 should be driven at the very least weekly , injectors cleaned annually , use ptfe lines and a injector friendly to e85 like id 1300 which have all stainless steel internals

power can safely be made with ethanol content as low as e50 as its a slow burning fuel with a high resistance to pre detonation

word to the wise , be careful running bigger than a 67mm turbo on stock bottomend with e85 as that fuel thrives on advanced timing and we all know the more timing is added the more torque motor makes and quicker the spool and stock rods are not happy for long on a bigger turbo or too small of a turbo where torque comes on too fast or too strong

71MM will be just fine on E85, the smaller the Turbo the more TQ it will make on E85 and you have to worry about your rods, Pte 6766/6466/6266 are all rods killer on E85 all IN.
71mm will not make the TQ the 6766/6466/6266 will make at the same boost level.

Al long as you don't make 700wtq and beat on it hard you will be fine with whatever turbo you pick..it's all in the Tuning.

Could you elaborate on that a little, Oumar? I'm just curious and trying to learn all I can. I've got a PTE7675 that I got a good deal on years ago that I plan to use for my NA-T. All things being equal, how does a smaller turbo which presumably flows fewer CFM make more torque than a larger one? Is it efficiency mapping and flowing more CFM at a lower rpm (under 5250 or wherever the tq/hp meet) vs the larger turbo which doesn't come into its own until higher up the power band?

I had figured with my 76mm turbo, it'll be a little laggy, compensated for a bit by keeping the 10:1 but will flow a ton of air. That, combined with my intake and eventual head work, i'll just make more power at lower psi than most. But if a smaller turbo yields more torque, that's what's fun and may make me consider the BWS366 more seriously than I already have.

with an upgraded fuel system, the decreased fuel mileage is well worth the additional power. however, e85 does not like the cold! florida should not give you any issues. there is no issues with running it daily.

I've been running it for around 8 years between the SC and my old Talon. Like was said, about a 33% difference so you need a decently sized fuel system to hit those numbers. I'm planning on 600-700 out of my 61mm. I run dual 255hp pumps and FIC2150's.

If you don't buy e85 out of a drum, I can't stress enough TEST THE E85 BEFORE EVERY FILLUP.

Federal regulation of e85 has never been strict, and what's considered "e85" varies. Most places in the midwest run e70 2 thirds of the year, and the rules in Illinois just changed where they can sell e70 year round.

Any of you seen pics of the bulletproof auto varis widebody GRB Subaru Sti wagon? He's a good friend of mine. He blew the motor 3 weeks ago because of bad e. Fuel in his tank tested to e65.

If you're gonna run e85, run ProEFI with the flex fuel sensor. This way your car can compensate for bad gas in real time and enter limp mode so you don't destroy your motor.
