Default Cooling fan problems

I have a 92 SC 400 with a hydro fan that is not working properly and the car is over heating. I need some ideas as to what is the most common problem with these fan systems. Is it the computer, the hydro motor, or is there something else I should consider?

I dont want to spend a ton of money chasing tail with this and I have never messed with Hydro motors before. I did find the reservoir was low on fluid and filled it back up. Being that it was low on fluid could that burn the motor out?

Any info will be appreciated.
Thank You

I've been wondering about this as well - my fan spins at all times, but very slowly - never increasing in speed regardless of the ambient temperature or engine temperature - and I'll be damned if it doesn't overheat nearly every single summer day in FL.

I've been considering just ditching the whole lot (gutting the pump motor to keep the pulley location) and going Electrical fan.
