Default ABS and TRAC on, how to check codes

hey guys, so my ABS and TRAC don't work which i don't really mind and actually prefer, but the CEL is on too and i wanna check the codes. i have a 92 SC400 so OBDI and saw this thread that all u need is a paperclip to check the codes?
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/mai...-93-sc400.html

is it really that simple? stick the paperclip to short those 2 connections and count the blinks? anyone done this?

thanks

Yes it is that simple. The TRAC light comes on automatically when the CHeck Engine light comes on

i'm pretty new to working on cars, i bought my first tool set because of this car and a few other things. and the more i learn, the easier and simpler everything seems to be. it's just legos with bolts, like everything is really easy lol. rigging a character in maya (a 3D program) for a video game is much much harder lol.
