Borg warner s360 on 1jz
Hi I'm about to go and buy a new turbo and was going to get the bw 83-75 s360. Is this too big for a stock block/cam 1jz.my friend with a 2jz is swearing I will regret it because I want to see boost asap with minimal lag. Keeping in kind I'm looking for 450 whp. Any people with this turbo on a 1jz please chime in. Thanks

5 speed Manual with 3.91 LSD diff. The t4divided .91 ar is what i want to go with. I'm afraid of having too much turbo lag or no response....I've read great things but mostly people with 2jz.

Thanks for the replys... Will be doing cams in the near future but may keep it stock for this season...will the s360 boost come on too late? Would I be better off going with the s256 or s257 which has a t4 divided 1.22ar...which seems quite big...anyone with these turbos on a 1jz please give me your thoughts thanks

I have that turbo with a .91 divided, and it is pretty laggy. I see full boost after 4k for sure. To be fair, I am on stock exhaust which I'm sure is not helping spool. I don't regret the turbo choice, I just know to keep it in the revs and not expect off idle boost. If 450 is your honest and true goal, I would go with a smaller turbo.

Well I know more power in the future along with many mods will come...however rite now at this point...spending under 700$ on a new turbo I want to buy something that is going to suit my needs now...if need be I will upgrade the turbo when I decide to upgrade the motor...hopefully not too soon lol I will be very happy with 450whp but wanted something I don't have to wait to4-5000 to be at full boost.

Adam- Dag that's laggy..Do you know exactly what rpm I am trying to do some comparison! And i know going with a .88 ar won't help either imo. What are you mods if you don't mind me asking?
Op then the S267 will be ideal for you setup, i you want something to will hit quick.

When I bought my S366, I had no clue exactly the specs I needed for my setup. This was first setup and motor swapped turbo car. After my findings on here and talking to several people on here, the S366 was the way to go with my supporting mods. I honestly think it would be too big for stock internals for your power goals and stock injectors. JMO. Mine starts to spool at 3200 or at least you can hear it, but really comes on around 4200 or so. Pulls straight through the redline but I think the Soarer R154 gearing helps with this also.

Well I have the resistor pack and 550cc that I'll be running with an afpr...still stuck on ecu and turbo choice...starting to go a bit crazy now...knowing I was going to be doing a 3.0l bottom sometime (not this year) was making my choice 100% s360. But since I really want to enjoy my car now, And want as much response and as little lag as possible I want something a bit smaller but in the same line...so something in the s256 range is my best bet? With that huge t4 divided 1.22 ar

There a few supporting mods I already have in terms of 550cc injectors and 255lph fuel pump.
