Exclamation Help !!! sputtering, no power, red cats, shaking.!!

I have a 1995 Lexus sc300 260k miles (straight Piped) ( no Air Filter box) , the car was sitting for like 3 months then i started it ran outta gas. Put some gas in it drove it to get the wheel bearing fixed. well after this i went filled up the tank with 91 oct and lucas fuel injector cleaner. on the way home the car started sputtering i had no power when i would floor it would go nowhere.it shaking bad my cats are red hot

symptoms

-sputtering
-shaking
-crazy fuel comsumption
-low idle (shakes at idle also)
-red hot cats
-no power
- missing then it will run fine for a second then have no power again
-smells like gas bad
-No Cel

So i was driving with the headers disconnected for about half a day then the problem started so i realized it might be a good idea to connect them so since theyre hot i go to a muffler shop he tells me all my cats all plugged up and thats the reason im running like this.

So i take the car to get the cats deleted and i am still having the problem. i need this fixed as it is my dd for work
Please help soon

Well for me at least, I experienced very bad sputtering, stalling out, power steering loss, and this was because the battery connections were loose.

The batter was able to slide side to side, so I had to fix that.

Just trying to chime in to help ya man!

95sc3, there could be multiple reasons going on here, but I will just give my experience…sounds like possible computer issues. I have found when these cars sit for awhile and then used, the juice running through the capacitors/resistors fries them and leaks on your ecu board. Sounds like the ECU is having trouble with the injectors which is causing the gas smell. Too much gas in the cylinders, getting washed down to the cats and burning in there which is causing red hot cats. Try searching these issues…ECU problems, red hot cats…there is a lot of information here….hope this helps

cb95sc i understand exactly ehat your getting at it just sounds like its kinda weird that the ecu is the culprit of all this mess ? i will see if i can borrow someones laying around. Pleas if anyone has anyother knowledge.

Also if i ever revved the car hard it would die after if i didn toucht the gas

Suspect the Main engine ECU computer, but while you can, perform the Fuel pump ECU mod. My guess it could be both...

^This! Try the fuel pump ecu 12v mod asap! Just google it and it'll come up for sc300s and 400s.

Sounds like it could be a clogged cat too

Yes, but he needs to track down what is causing the "running rich" issue before he replaces the cats. The honeycomb inside will just melt again and clog if he doesn't fix the unburned fuel issue entering the exhaust.

That "running rich" smell could be from clogged cats. That would recycle fuel through the evap system and overwhelm the filter for the system. I've never seen this happen on a Lexus and I'm not intimately familiar with the evap system on an SC but the glowing cats sure lead me in that direction!
