Default 1UZ-fe wont pass 4k rpm

Hello guys ;

This is Efe from turkey with best regards.

İ have a problem with my car.

İt is 1991 toyota soarer with 1UZFE auto tranny.

Problem definition;

İn neutral car wont pass 4000 , when it reach to 4k rpm it stops revving and gors back to 1500 by itself , then revs back to 4000 and goes back again. Car idles fine but as i say i cant hold it still after 2000rpm.

When on gear D ; car even wont pass 2000rpm ( so my top speed is 73km/h )

A video is uploaded, please watch it. İ hold my foot down but still engine wont rev and drops .

Also when i first start it , cold or hot no difference; when i put it gear and try to move İt dies immediately. İt does this 3-4 times. After that i can move the car.

please help me to define problem. İ feel really tired about this. Since the car and the engine are one of its kind in my country, im having difficulties to find info.

Here is the video .

Please dont hold yourself for answers. İm open to any suggestions.

Cheers

Efe G.

Only code 41 is shown.(tps VTA1 problem)

İ know it is a condition for limp-mode but i thinks this is not about limp mode.

ok great,,,looks like your tps is the issue, they are a very easy fix, and can be bought for quite cheap as well

So do you think 41(tps) will cause this problem,

As i see from fsm, it is out of range(0.25v-4.98v) or when idle switch is on it exceeds 1.5v

Or open circuit( tps fail)

Any other option?
Did you watch the video? Do you think it is limp-mode action?

sorry buddy but I don't know anything about voltages, but I do know that a faulty TPS can cause these kinds of problems.

You have to trust the computer, if its saying TPS is faulty, in my opinion you should replace it.

my car had the same code, it might be your o2 or speed sensors, they cause the trac to get confused, its like a chain reaction, check your vacuum hose if its leaking. check your egr valve, clean it out.

tps is where I would start. you can turn the tps very slowly its very sensitive. it changes the way your car revs and shifts by throttle position. if you have a volt meter do it by voltage if you can as shown in diagram. ecu can also be faulty but I would try tps first. check the cable too.

Today i tried to measure the resistance respectively to FSM but probs of my multimeter doesnt get in to tps pins. So i remove the shield of the tps connectors cables . So i tries to check when idle switch will go of, but it never gone off. So i remove the tps and measure on outside and turn the tps by hand. When i do this i see in the mutimeter buzzer, idle switch goes on and off. But when i install it to throttle body, it never goes off. Im really confused. Planning to buy a new tps sensor, but still couldnt understand the situation

idle switch needs to go off. maybe someone has adjusted your throttle plate too far open so the tps is always off idle, or sometimes the throttle stop that has the vacuum line on it that comes out under deceleration will get stuck and hold the throttle body open too far. make sure the vacuum line is good and clear.

not sure just the tps would cause this problem though, check the wiring for the cam sensor by the accessory belt for damage, and all the other wires around there.
