Default 2jzge auto-manual differences?

Sorry for the newbie questions, I'm completely new to this so bear with me lol. I've searched on the forum including the diy and can't find an answer. I'm hoping to replace my 2jzge and I was wondering if there are any differences in years and which I should be looking for? I also have a 5 speed and if I read correctly, 2jzge coming from an automatic shouldn't have any extra plugs/sensors? I have an 93 sc300

It shouldn't but the harnesses are slightly different in that certain functions weren't available on the 5-speeds: namely transmission control from the ECU and traction control.

Everything else should be basically the same but I'd recommend transferring your 5-speed engine harness to your donor engine. For you in Cali, any 93-95 2JZ-GE engine will work both as a physical drop-in and in the legal sense. Technically a 96-97 2JZ-GE will also be physically identical other than the engine harness being for an OBD2 ECU but it's better to source a 93-95 engine from an SC300 auto or GS300 auto.
