Pontiac Transmission = R154?
I'm came across a thread on a supra forum. They were talking about the Pontiac Solstice 5spd transmission. They said that is basically a R154 but with a different bell housing and tail shaft?
Anybody have any info on this? If this is true it might be another option for my 1UZ 5spd swap.

You want this thread:

The short version:
-- the fat lady hasn't sung yet
--yes it's VERY similar to the R154 because it's based on the design but there are some significant differences that make it not so easy to install in an SC. Internally and from the front it's basically the same. Slightly different gear ratios and different synchro design.
--Soarer 1JZ bellhousing swaps over
--Toyota R154 front bearing retainer swaps over
--Can use 7M/1JZ clutches
--tailhousings, output shafts and shifter locations are VERY different from the R154
--The Solstice and Sky Aisin AR-5 5-speeds are the only ones to bother with as the AX15 versions are even less compatible (although, again, they are similar internally in the same way the AR-5's are)
It is still easier to swap a proven W58 or R154 5-speed onto your 1UZ with off-the-shelf conversion kits. Do read the thread and see what you think.
