what causes oil leaks in the front of the motor?
I have a 94 SC400 so no 2jz here and have a biggg oil leak some where in the front lower half of the motor.
Its so big everything in the area is soaked so I cant really search for the source. What in the front can cause oil leaks on the V8? I thought cam seals but it seems to be in the lower area of the motor.
Can anyone jyst point out what other areas coukd leak? Thanks in advance.

^^ x2.
IMO get a complete engine gasket/seal set. replace what you can in the area. and you still have all the others when the time comes. replacing them all would be ideal but thats crazy talk. haha.
dejavu.

definitely worth it. it's always a good idea to have gaskets on hand, in the event of a leak you will know you already have it. I highly suggest replacing ALL seals and gaskets you can if you dont know the last time they were replaced. gasket/seal replacement is part of scheduled maintenance and should not be avoided otherwise you get oil leaks. don't just wait for them to fail when you can prevent it in the first place. reusing gaskets/seals is also a big no-no they can also a leak. always use new gaskets/seals when doing a repair or replacement.
I had a friend that had a bad oil leak and never fixed it just added oil. well eventually one day the oil got low and he didn't keep an eye on the oil level. his car snapped a rod bearing and knocked like the cops. I went to his place to check it out when it happened, checked the dipstick and it was dry...
is it worth fixing a oil leak and replacing your gaskets/seals? YES! especially in a turbo car, uses more oil than an N/A.

On my LS400 my front main seal went out, The car's waterpump and timing belt has been done hence why i paid 3k for it but the mechanic didn't replace the seals, -___-' so the seals were the originals and were rock hard when my mechanic told me after i sold the car, the new owner took it to my neighbor whos a toyota tech, he ended up doing the valve cover gaskets and waterpump and timing belt again, hence why i got rid of my LS and got the sc.
all the oil was puking out from the front of the motor.

As far as I know most people in some other communities do not use oil pan gaskets because over time the oil seeps through and then you have the leak again.
I would recommend to only use the toyota bond gasket sealer for the oil pan without a paper gasket, just the sealant only.
