help deciding on what to do for my custom sc400 exhaust
so im planning on getting a custom cat back for my sc400 made by my local exhaust shop. im planning on 2.5" piping and for it to come off of the stock exhaust headers, or off of my hollowed top two cats.
do you think i should just build it from the hollow cats, or have them connect it directly to the stock headers?
I want to get an X pipe, but am unsure of what kind to purchase. what is the best x pipe to get?
I also need to decide on what mufflers to get. i don't want it to be loud, but not too loud. i also dont want to spend too much on the mufflers.
(my car is a '93 and qualifies for historic tags, so i don't have to do emissions inspections, so i dont need any cats)
thanks for any help!

^ I own that SC now and lemme tell you the exhaust is top notch. The previous owner did some serious research into squeezing every bit of power a custom exhaust can squeeze out of the 1UZ. The sound is amazing, nothing loud and obnixious like a mustang, but more like a tuned V8.
I would also highly suggest getting some headers if you're spending the money on a full custom setup. The headers will add a lot to an exhaust
There's a full thread dedicated to SC exhaust setups. But I reccommed doing some research over in the GS forum, those guys have done more to the 1UZ than SC guys and have some really good insight into 1UZ exhaust setups.

thanks! and yeah i know, i was planning on headers sometime in the future, but i wanna get hurricane headers, and those just dont seem realistic for the time being. do you think 2.25 or 2.5 would be more beneficial?

Go with headers and high flow cats. I have gutted cats too and IMO they sound like **** with that swishy sound. 2.25" is plenty big for a 4l if running duels. I'm a huge fan of dynomax turbo mufflers with a pair of thrush resonators (12" should work). That's my plan anyway.
