Default M2 performance axlebacks for sc300/sc400

Just wondering if anybody knew about the m2 performance axlebacks. They look like the top speed pro 1, which looks like Tanabe medallions. I've heard the top speed pro 1 is pretty good quality, just wanted to know If anyone knows if the m2 is the same/just as good.

I have these on my NA SC300 with the factory resonators and they absolutely do not sound like crap. I listened to many, many aftermarket exhausts on 2JZ-GE cars (no NA-T) and for the money these were great hands down. They also look good on the car-- they don't overwhelm the body lines so as to draw more attention individually than to the car as a whole.

On an SC400 I find many more axle-back mufflers sound good simply because that's a characteristic of all V8's. For an inline-six engine it's not as easy.

I am not familiar with the other brands you're comparing them to but take my word for it-- they sound great on an SC300.

I emailed top speed and yet said they were out of stock until mod October. Does anyone know if there is a difference between the top speeds and the m2s? I want them for my sc400 btw

I installed M2 Axleback on my 400 and they look great. The muffler shop that installed them could not believe the price I paid ($249 shipped) and the quality. As for sound I still have all 3 resonators on and the sound is good but I do get a little drone at low speed (35-45). Might remove back resonators to get a little more volume and rumble.

The top speeds are cheap, from what I've heard they sound pretty good, and it'll make it sound a little better until I get a full custom exhaust made .

I just listened to all the above videos and I'm still scratching my head as to how those examples sound bad. The Magnaflow sounds completely different. I will say that it looks like the GS300 M2 design is a canister versus the SC300/400 M2's traditional oval muffler design. That may have something to do with it.

If I have time in the next couple of days I will record my own car for comparison with some professional film sound equipment I have and synch that to my video. I've often felt that impressions of how an exhaust system sounds based off watching the truncated and clipped range of sound from a camera phone's compressed video is a poor representation of what you'd actually hear in person.

Most exhaust setups sound either way too loud or tinny/raspy on non-turbo JZ inline six vehicles. Everything changes though once you have a turbocharger interrupting the exhaust stream.
