Default About to drive 2344 miles round trip.

So I got a job offer that I can't refuse and requires a lot of traveling. I'm going to New York, Tennessee, Texas and back for the next 2 months for training. Unfortunately at first I won't be able to fly and or buy a better road trip vehicle but at least they are paying for my gas. So in my 92 sc300 with 240k, I'm wondering what kind of maintenance things I should tackle. My car as of right now is in perfect running order, no CEL or weird sounds, new supra struts and springs, new headlights and hids, pretty well rounded. I'm sort of rushed since I'll be leaving this coming Tuesday so I don't have time to order anything online. I'm very mechanically inclined and will be doing everything myself so cost of labor will not be a factor. I'm thinking:

diy aux cable (or ill go nuts)
spark plugs
wires
fuel filter
air filter
oil and filter
tire rotation
alignment
check all fluids
test all the bulbs in all corners

I was thinking of flushing my transmission fluid but I hear horror stories on high mileage trannys and its best to just not mess with it since it performs perfectly? Is this a myth? timing belt was done about 70k ago, should I?

Am I missing anything? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Everything sounds good, check tire psi, make sure you have any wheel locks in, spare tire equipment, and learn to do the fuel pump ecu mod just in case it goes out.

And yes, deff do not flush the tranny fluid. You have to drain and fill on these, very easy though.

I find SC's to good road trip cars. I've been on a few long road trips and the only issue I've ever had was lower power steering fluid after one trip (although that most likely didnt have anything to do with the trip itself).

Seems like you've covered everything in your list, maybe even a bit overkill, lol. One thing I would add is to regularily check tire pressure throughout the trip. Lotsa highway driving like that, especially in the heat, can cause a lot of stress on your tires. Wouldnt want them to blow out due to under/over inflation.

^ ..just noticed previous poster said that too

Did you also do your bushings? That can kill the smoothness of the ride.Best of luck, i wish i can do a trip like that in my SC. Make CL proud lol

Your car looks immaculate. Might want to buy a can of the new 3M spray shield and cover the front of your baby. That will protect from rocks and road rash. You can easily peel it off after your trips.

Bring extra Power steering fluid, tools, and it might be a good idea to perform what Bankswood mentioned.
You will love long trips with the SC!

Right on, you guys really built some confidence in this trip for me, thank you. I'll probably snap some photos along the way and post them in here.

What's the ecu mod you're talking about? I searched it but honestly the search in this forum has always sent me through hoops more than any other forum I've used.

I've made several 2400 round trip mile trips with my old 94 GS300. Only mishap was the serpentine belt tensioner pulley seized in the middle of nowhere in Texas. But it had the decency of doing so at a gas station, where an old man came up with tools and pulled out and rebuilt the pulley. Got me out of a jam.

Long story short: make sure your tensioner is recent, or change it. Cheap insurance.

There's a DIY sticky on the top of the SC300/400 forum which has links to all the DIY's. You'll find it in there. You just need to learn how to navigate the forum better, its actually very organized
