Hey everyone,

I bought this 93 sc300 with a 1jz swap years ago knowing that the transmission could be on it's last legs but I think now my suspicion is finally becoming a reality.

Anyway, here is my problem. The automatic will shift too early, and by too early I mean sub 2000 rpm if I'm not getting on it. While decelerating, the transmission won't downshift until about 500 rpm, causing shuddering in the engine. However, if I mash the pedal, the transmission will downshift just fine into the correct gear. Also, when it upshifts too early I can hear a clunk, but I can't source it.

Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? TPS, MAP sensor, shift solenoids? I've searched on a bunch of forums but I haven't found anything similar to my situation. No codes are being thrown. If I can't figure it out, I might be in the market for a w58/r154 which was my original long term plan. So if anyone knows of a complete or near complete swap please send them my way.

If the 1j tranny has a kickdown cable. Thats your problem. But I dunno about 1j
