Default 1997 SC Tranny A340E Question

Can I use any newer year as long as it's A340E? Mine is acting up needs the solenoids changed, wondering if it's worth just changing the solenoids or just getting a low miliage used tranny from a tacoma or any other with A340E. Thanks in advance.
