Default CEL and Trac Off lights on.

So my CEL and Trac Off lights are on. I tried to pull a code today, but I couldnt get the CEL to flash when jumping Te1 and E1. I tried jumping both diagnostic ports, no luck. I just got the O/D Off light to flash non stop.

Im an aspiring technician at a repair shop so after getting slightly frustrated after not being able to flash any codes, I hooked up our SnapOn Verdict w/ the Toyota adapter. I was able to view live data like my fuel trims, O2 sensors, throttle position, etc. but STILL unable to pull any codes! WTF?!

So heres a few symptoms..

--The CEL comes and goes multiple (3-25) times on my 10 mile drive to work.

--Trac Off light and/or Trac lights are intermittent. While they are on, traction control is disabled.

--Occasionally (1 to 3 times a week) the car will start and begin running rough, and no matter how much gas you give it, it will spudder and die. Sometimes it will do this 2 or 3 times, but will ALWAYS start eventually.. it has never left me stranded.

-- Now heres the kicker... occasionally the CEL will flicker, flash and fade/dim.. They arent supposed to do that.. haha WTF?? bad ECU/ PCM??

Well, I would really appreciate any help! The symptoms have been getting worse the past week, so its definitely time to fix it! If you have any questions I would be happy to answer.

you have all the symptoms of an ecu that is starting to have leaky capacitors.
I would pop it open for an inspection as soon as possible, this condition will only get worse with time.

What Ali said, sounds leaky capacitors in the ECU. It will just get worse and worse as time goes on. Just leaks with age, it's a part of life with the SC
