Default loss of power..but stops if I turn over drive off

I had to change my radiator but it sat for about 3 months before I did so. That went smooth and radiator is working great. But every since I did that ,the car seems to loose power intermitently... kinda of a "hick up" or a miss ....Like it may not be getting enough gas ..But if I turn the over drive button off or kick the power button on ,it will usually resume to normal speed. I put some of that seafoam injector cleaner in but it did not help. I Heard that it may be the MAP sensor... Could this be correct? I have seen posts were people are talking about getting codes flashed...where do you get one of those diadnostic machines because i heard only the dealer or certain import garages have them and the garages want $80 to $100 just to diagnosis it. Also I called O'Reilys and they said the MAP sensor is only available from the dealer. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

For 1, what car do you have? 300 or 400?

for 2 what other mantainence have you performed?

3. Do you have a check engine light? If you vehicle is 96+ go to autozone and they will scan it for free. If it is pre-96 go find you a paperclip and use the search function on how to pull obd1 codes.

4. I doubt you have a map sensor unless your gte converted.

5. Describe this hiccup you have a bit more in depth please

I have a 1992 SC 400. Have not had to do many repairs in the 6 years I have had it..just regular maintence. and no upgrades. Yes the check engine light comes on sometime but only when the traction control light comes on and that has been happening for a few years..I don't think it has anything to do with this problem. The hiccup noise may be better described as a miss or intermittent loss of power. and like i said if i push the power button or turn over drive off it will resume normal operation

Sounds like a transmission related issue, dont quote me on this but i though when tractional control or o/d light comes on or flashes it means trans code but someone else will have to chime in.

look up how to check your codes, you can do it yourself. That will give you a better idea of whats going on
