I have an early soarer v8 that the engine stops when selecting reverse or drive. It idles and revs nice in neutral and park but as soon as you try to move the auto selector the engine stops.
Cant get any codes - it feels like an electrical problem somewhere

cehck your coilpacks, are you sure your idle rpm's arent low when in park.

Its as if the key is turned off. Has had no telltales to point to the converter, when you go to select a gear the second the shifter starts to move it stops. Its not even looking at being close to the gear select position. I am thinking electrical and it was in a huge downpour so maybe water in a plug somewhere. Its got me stumped

hiya yes coil packs are good. You can even double pedal it with more acceleration and no different, it still cuts out - not stalls its as if the key is turned off
