Default 1997 automatic ? swap or turbo kit?

I know this topic has been beat to death but I was hoping to get some new updates/info on this

current car is 1997 SC300 180k auto
interior has been redone
suspension all refreshed....so on to the drivetrain..

what are my options as far as swap? what would you choose and why?
1jzgte?
1jzgte vvti?
2jzgte?
2jzgte vvti?
build and boost current old 2jz

what are my tranny options ? Current is auto but would love a manual...
pros and cons? vs price?
custom mods?(driftmotion has lots of parts but wanted user input)
built auto
r154(custom shifter??)
v160(custom drive shaft?)

this will all be done by a local tuner shop...is why I'm asking. I don't want to go in not knowing my options and get raped
Just looking for an average for current up to date pricing.

Thumbs up

Welcome and good luck with your plans. I don't think there is much new or updated info on swaps for our cars as most are in their 20's or teens by now.
THIS FAQ has more info on the Sc than I have ever seen in one place. If you REALLY want to avoid rape , take a week and read through it. Some of the Build Threads are REALLY informative with regard to swaps as are the resulting discussions about them. You will really start to know what you are getting into after that. There are DIY'S for almost everything including motor and tranny swaps. The guys who have done it may eventually kick in some advise but that FAQ will keep you busy for some time.

That said, all roads seem to eventually lead HERE. So get a head start.

PS: There is no "con" to a well done 5 speed swap if you have the bread. Thats my most desired modification.

Good luck,
Can't wait to see it.
