Hello all. I have a 1996 Lexus sc 300 AT with 200k miles on it. the check engine light is on but that is because the previous owner switched out the exhaut.
It needs a lil tlc but it has been working great until now.

So here is the info...i am driving and poof...it shuts off...i try to turn it on and turn the key but it wont turn over and start up again...if i wait about 15 to 30 minutes it starts again and then turns off shortly right after...i have some things i am going to be looking at like the map sensor and i am going to change the air filter now because it is filthy...lol and i am going to clean up the grease build up on the distrubutor and surrounding areas...plus clean the batery terminal...any thoughts or suggestions on what else could be the culprit.

Clean the MAP and replace the air filter. Could be ECU capacitors as well. They often leak and cause problems. Have any CEL? Pull the codes first if you do.

The first thing I would do is pull that code. Fuel pump ECU failure is also very common in these cars.

the car had no fuel pressure. so we had to replace the pump.fuel pump ecu seems good but now the ecu is gone bad because there is no signal going to the injectors...so it turns on again...but now it turns off again...the car now has fuel pressure though....
