Default Is this the sound of a faulty pulley? Video inside.

So about 3 months ago there was a squeaky noise coming from my engine and didn't really pay any mind to it. The last week though it has developed into a clanking/grinding noise (video) and though it's hard to hear where it is coming from I've seemed too narrow it down to these two pulleys:

From what I've been reading looks like the crank pulley often fails on our cars. But could it be the other pulley (or any other pulleys)? And if so, what pulley is that? Also, how much does this repair typically cost? Is this what the sound of a faulty pulley sounds like? Anyone else experience this type of sound, if so, what was the culprit?

By the way, it's not the AC compressor squeaking.

Here's the video:

That sounds like its your tensioner pulley.. i believe theres a bearing some where in there or it could be the spring i dont know.. but my 1jz was making a similar noise.. only difference it would come and go.. but not as loud. sometime it could get a little loud but not bad at all .. anyways still have the same one. noise went away , but i do keep an eye on it...

Tensioner pulley. Take off your belt and see if the pulley spins freely or has play in it.

Thanks guys! Today morning the noise died down suddenly and I started to smell a metal to metal odor. Noise is still there but not as loud. I'm going to have to take this to a mechanic, dont really have time to remove the belt and diagnose.

...Nevermind, I guess I'll be towing it to a mechanic. Belt broke, guess the pulley seized up and friction took it's course.

So looks like you guys were right. Tensioner pulley doesnt turn and leftovers of the belt are smeared on it.

That's a bummer. Replacement bearing can be found at NAPA for around $14.
