Question Performance, Aftermarket or OEM for Motor/Tranny Mounts?

Performance, aftermarket or OEM for Motor/Tranny Mounts?
Is there a reason to pay 300$ for the Megan Racing? Does the stiffness improve performance to the rear wheel ?
Can inexpensive, aftermarket last and perform similarly to OEM?
Is it advantageous to get OEM? (outside of "I always get OEM")

Thank you!!!

I've been wondering about this too. Also, any advantage to OEM motor mounts or aftermarket?

the OEM lexus ones are the softest and usually fall apart when you pull the motor for the first time.
I replaced mine with the Supra TT mounts, they are overall better, a little stiffer, and everything feels much tighter on engagement.
Not sure how better/stiffer the aftermarket ones are, Im guessing they use a harder material and may last longer.

+1 Supra mounts feel a great deal better and are half encased in metal.

Im sure in some cases aftermarket mounts are better but i really doubt megan racing put more research and development into the mounts than toyota did.... just IMO though

The Supra were just for the 6 cylinder right? No V8 model is there? (95' Sc400)

Thank You!

I don´t see any advantage. At least on 1uz´s. Engine is very stable on it´s own and won´t make any difference.

Think they are still good at 117K? Have you pulled any from 1UZ motors with similar miles? I really have no symptoms, just want to feel what this car is like with perfect parts over time.

The mount should be fine at that mileage. If you want to be sure, jack up the tranny, disconnect the driveshaft, and take out the mount and inspect it. It's a fairly simple job. If you replace it, I don't see the need for an expensive mount, unless your car is boosted and you do lots of heavy serious driving.

You have to think about what you are going to be using the car for because the ride does become a lot stiffer depending on the material. If its going to be a daily driven car the stocks should give you the feel your looking for unless your driving like a mad man

I'm a bit of a schizophrenic driver. Mellow and EZ usually but given to spontaneous fits of driving like someone is chasing me for a spell (every day).
I don't mind a car lurching forward and snapping your head back when you get "on it". Is that what you mean by a "stiffer" ride?

totally missed the sc400 part, no idea if the mounts are interchangeable.
You mounts may be alright mileage wise, but age wise they are probably worn some at least.
If you pull the mount out to check it you better be prepared to replace it, you may not be able to reuse it if its "done".

I am getting some, likely stock this week. They are cheap but I can't seem to get a solid fix on the cost of installation. Some say easy, some say PITA, just like steering rack bushings.
