Electrical Issues with my 97 SC300! Won't start.
So......... I've done some research on the forums and I can't exactly find the same issue that I'm having (symptom for symptom, that is) ... So here it goes.
I'm pretty sure there's something going on with my security system..My starter won't engage at all. I've read that the alarm system will completely shut off power to the starter if it feels someone is trying to break into the car or trying to steal it etc.
But - my car will be running fine... I'll take the key out of the ignition for a second, put it back in and try to start the car and it will not start at all, no starter action.
What I've been able to do to get it started is... Lock my door with my key, unlock my door with the key and then start the car. I did that about 10 times in a row and it worked on the 10th time.. For some reason. It's so sketchy I don't feel like driving my car and risking it not starting in a random parking lot.
I heard that the master key is extremely specific and is paired with the chip in the car that is connected to the security system. Perhaps my key is faulty or maybe the chip is faulty? It's annoying because it will work some days but then won't work for a week.
Another thing that's been going on with my car that occurred last night was.... When I turn on my fogs (HID 35w) my radio will stutter/pause for like 5 seconds and then it will resume playing...and then one of my fogs will just shut off.
Hopefully someone can help pinpoint where this electrical problem is happening..
Thanks!
Connor

I am experiencing something very similar.
I had some times where I could only start the car with the door ajar. And one time it wouldn't start at all until I disconnected the battery, reconnected it, did the door lock and unlock, and then it started fine.
Now, I've done all that and my car is still dead as a doornail.
Is there a way to just disable the alarm completely and remove it from the equation?

My bad well found out how to reset the factoey security after it shuts off your starter which it does do..... You have to use your master key open your drivers door.... go to your passenger door.... turn the key to the right twice( to Lock ) then turn the key to the left twice ( to unlock ) .... did this and my car started .....

Securty question?????
So my 2000 sc300 is similar with the exception that it WILL turn over fine(new battery now), and I have new fuel pump, filter, acc pedal pos sensor, tps, crank sensor and cam sensor,IAC, and ignitor, as well as checked all fuses and swapped similar relays around...at a loss. I have a beau set of nedw-to-me of Ray's/ Volk SF Challenge 18x7.5,18x9 +42,+48, that have me slobbering to get it back on the road. Any ideas?
