I wonder why this is the case? Do you have to raise it to secure it on the top mounts or because it hits something if its 1in lower?

It's primarily because the fan shroud is aligned at the same height on 2JZ-GE's as well as all GTE's but the height of the Supra GTE radiator is shorter than the height of SC300/400/Soarer radiators.

Yes, the factory top mounts (or any top mounts) cannot secure the Supra radiator in an SC/Soarer without that extra 1" of height.

If I remember correctly I do believe the middle section bulges down below the two mounting areas on either side as well.

Adding a quick link to how I wired up the TT electric fan with my GTE swap:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/bui...l#post10241327

Eventually I did end up allowing the override wire on the Mishimoto fan controller to be triggered by the A/C mag clutch additional wire as detailed in the post. Not sure if SC300 harnesses have such an additional wire so an alternative would be to just fit an aftermarket switch into the cabin for manual control.

The sensor that comes with the Mishimoto relay controller handles any over-temperature automatic kick on for the fan.

And there is no reason why the 96-98 TT twin fan shroud/system can’t work with this same aftermarket relay control.
