Default FFIM question

I'm building my own ffim and was wondering if I should cut the upper intake manifold and have the plenum sit on top like the Tt stock ffim or have it on the side of the lower runner like the xspower ffim. I am liking the top mount better. Give me your opinion and why. Will be taking picture better later tonight.

well the top mount requires cutting and welding together, and measuring to make sure it will fit with the hood closed. Its a little more work but might be worth it depending on how you look at it. the advantage of the side one is that it bolts on which is simpler but give you less space to work around. hood clearance on the side one is great though.

I vote side as well, unless youre just buying either, then I would pick the one you like.

Both are getting welded on and ported. i don't like the idea of having bolts on the inside of my intake manifold. The top mount actually makes the plenum a lot shorter since intake runner curve in. I was just worried that for some reason the number 6 cylinder wouldn't get as much air as the other cylinders. I can cut the intake manifold upper runner so that the new plenum won't be any higher than a stock intake manifold would be. So clearance won't be the issues. I am just wondering what design will actually be better. Thinking maybe the top mount because I might get the extra torque from the longer runners. The side mount would need it to be at a slight angle to clear the pulley on the power steering pump.
