Dougspeed, do you mean I should have the resonators removed in addition to getting the muffler set up or will just deleting the resonators and leaving the stock mufflers in place give the performance/mpg increase ?

Just deleting the two rear resonators and leaving the stock mufflers in place gives performance/mpg increases. At least that was my experience with my VVTi 1UZ. I just replaced the mufflers as well since I wanted to hear the V8.

Thats great to know because mine is a '98 and has a VVTi 1Uz also. Could you tell me what size pipe to replace it with ?

I tried to order them but they were on back order so i ended up getting some from a company called beluga racing. here is the link to the mufflers that I ended up getting instead of the M2 mufflers

The standard is 2.25", which is what I have.

^^ I did that too and it sounded amazing. It was jus too loud in the cabin for my taste, it would rattle certain parts in my car

Did you remove the center resonator too? When I just deleted the two rear resonators, it hardly made any difference in sound. It was more power and mpg gain over anything else. Now if you remove all three resonators, it will be LOUD. But removal the rear resonators shouldn't make much difference with the stock mufflers.

I didn't remove the cat if that's what u r referring to. Jus the mufflers and resonators. I have future plans for a full custom exhaust and headers, with the installment of some racing cams. That will prolly be the most I will invest in making this car giddy up a lil faster. I'm hoping to achieve close to 300hp at the crank. Assuming that I get 3-5hp from my custom exhaust and 3-7hp from the BFI Intake. 30-40hp for racing cams and 18-20hp for the headers.

Hey, than you so much Doug. It sounds like I should leave the center resonator in place and just replace the rear two resonators with the 2.25" pipe for more power and mpgs. If I missed anything, please let me know ! Thanks again !

That's why it was loud, most of the sound is dampened by the stock mufflers, taking both the resonators and the mufflers will make it loud. Just taking out the resonators won't really change the volume of the exhaust.

BTW, Dougspeed, you didn't lose any torque did you ? And at what RPM do you feel the extra power ? Thanks again in advance !
