Default Noob with lots of Questions

So guys, been sniffing around for awhile and I finally decided to join in. I currently do not own either an sc300 or an sc400 but I am in the market and ready to purchase. But I have questions so I'm coming to you guys. Currently I daily drive a z28 Camaro that runs mid 13s mostly stock. Not real fast but quick. I would like to build my sc300/400 to run at least low 13s without forced induction. My question is would this task be easier to do in an sc300 powered by the 2jz or would it be easier in the sc400 powered by that 1uz? Personally, I love the 1uz. It sounds like sex in my ears. But the question is, can I actually get 300HP out of a 1uz with bolt on parts and maybe cam swaps? This will be my dd/track car/street racer/drift car/luxury cruiser. So I'd like to not gut it. Lol. Tell me veterans, am I just pissing in the wind with my wishes? Will I have to go turbo to see what I want?

With cams, intake and exhaust with the nonvvti 1uz I would say no. With the newer 400 vvti with same mods I say very close. I just did the 1jz swap in the 400 more difficult and parts due to always being an auto but nothing very very complicated. If you get a deal on either choose wisely. 400 needs more parts than the 300 that already has a manual.

I agree ^^^ without a ton of motor work I am not sure a full body car will make it into the 13s if you don't want boost then stick to the 400 it will be easier to get the power from the motor. But if you come to the dark side and boost then 2jz all the way, you can GTE swap it or na-t and just crank up the boost. Good luck

I an very familiar with the jz engines and their potential, but what if I were to sink that money into a 1uz and turbo it? More/less potential that the jz? And I'm not opposed to running nitrous to achieve low 13s. That possible on a stockish 1uz?
