Default Plugged EVAP vent line

I discovered the EVAP vent line in the fuel tank was clogged with RUST. The car sat for 5 years with 18 gallons of fuel in it before I bought it. I could not blow the rust out with compressed air or any luck trying to push it out with a sturdy wire. I ended up cutting the line inside the tank about 4 inches from the bottom and about 3 inches from the top. I put a piece of rubber fuel line to connect the two. Here is the question....a portion of the rubber fuel line will be submerged in the gas all the time...How long will it take for the rubber fuel line to break down and deterioate?
