Default 1uz in a sc300 5 speed?

I recently picked up a 92 sc300 5 speed as a project. Ever since I got it home I've been trying to decide on which power plant to ultimately go with. I dont have huge hp dreams, just want something fun and streetable. So, obvious first choice was na-t or 1jz w/ R154 and call it a day. Then I got to thinking, I love the 1uz in my 400, what if i could swap one into the 300 as well? Has anyone swapped a 1uz into a factory 5 speed sc? What issues would I possibly run into if I tried to make this happen? Right off the bat I know I would need an adapter plate for the w58 as well as a 400 ecu. Outside of those two things what else should I need?

Personally I would say you're better off to throw a w58 in your 400. Motor swap is more work then a m/t swap for sure. NA-T or swap your 300 so you can have the best of both worlds

w58 in the sc400 would be better. Use the 400 as a daily and get an r154 for the sc300 and go Na-t and have a weekend sc

I'm not sure man, a manual trans swap for an SC400 is not that simple.
Ive already completed my 1uz r154 swap, but am having issues with the Tilton TOB, I believe its dragging along the input shaft of the transmission, and working in the garage without a lift is so much more difficult.
If you wanted a manual 1uz, why not sell your sc300, as Im sure you could get top dollar for it being an 5speed manual.

I realize that it might not be the "best" route to take, but id still like to find out what exactly it would entail. I could always sell it and get an older 400 and manual swap it, but it just wouldn't be the same. I may end up going with a tried and true 1jz, but just for discussions sake: what if any, problems might one run into when going with the 1uz?

I haven`t swapped a 1UZ but it will bolt in using the factoy 1UZ mounts from a sc400. I couldn`t see any real problems since it`s obd1 other then the wire swap and ecu, then you would have to mate the w58 with your 1UZ still anyhow... I would check out lextreme forums for info on 1UZ swap, club lexus seems to have more info on jz swaps most people ditch the UZ

I however enjoy having a V8, growing up with stock cars and SBC it`s great when one of my dads friends tease me about my 4 or 6 cylinder and seem quite surprised that it`s an 8. Gas prices are becoming a ***** though

The more logical route would be to swap a W58 manual into your SC400 since the engine is already in place. I've considered both a 1UZ non-VVT and 1UZ VVT swap in my ODB1 SC300 5-speed but decided against it because it still made more sense to leave the engine alone or swap in a 1JZGTE or 2JZGTE. The ONLY reason I considered either 1UZ is because they are emissions legal here in Cali whereas all but a full USDM TT Supra engine would be illegal. You probably don't have such strict emissions where you are.

Swapping in a 1UZ requires a lot of different equipment in the engine bay.
