Default Power Steering Line Question

So i was in the process of removing my AC and near the AC condenser under the left side headlight i found a tangle of what looked to be AC lines and found out after i got the ac lines out of there that its just one line recirculating from the steering rack to the power steering reservoir. Im assuming as if its just extra plumbing for the power steering system to have a bigger fluid capacity or why do they have this big mess of one pipe recirculating?

But my question is really if i can remove this nest and just join the lines with one straight line from the rack to the reservoir with no harm?

Just looking for some info on this removal as for some odd reason i cant find any threads about it.

Thanks in advance

my buddy got a really small oil cooler and ran the lines to it so it clears up that side seem slike a good idea if you want to remove the clutter
