Default 1997 sc300 ecu help

Im will be doing a 5 speed swap in my car and I was wondering what are my options so that I won't have a check engine light and the car starts up normally. Would I be better off with a 96 mt ecu? Would that even work on my 97? I know that they are both obd ii but I just wanna confirm. Thanks Jimmy

I have a 97 convertion as well, i was running on the auto ecu but i had a check engine light.
I found a guy here on CL selling a m/t ecu from a '96 and that worked on my car, it got rid of my CEL ( i had to get some ecu pins changed) there is a thread here on CL about it. I just got my swap done few days ago and i have no need for that ecu no more. If u interested let me know.
