Branch Resonator on SC300?
Hey guys, I've been doing alot of research regarding the awful droning my car has in the lower RPMs, now I know that once I go 5-speed it'll help a bit since I shift instead of the car.
But I still would like to know, has anyone who has a single tip exhaust ever tried putting a branch resonator? If so, did it reduce/kill the droning of your car? If not, were you able to do it some other way?
I'd really like some help with this so I can keep the car quiet till it needs to show off that 2JZ roar
Here's a link on the branch resonator for those who don't know what I'm talking about.

I have never done a before and after but they do work. Sometimes they are called a helmholtz resonator. Essential what happens is the frequency of the exhaust matches the resonance frequency of the panels, metal, items in your car which cause them to vibrate. Think of a opera singer who can break glass with their voice, all they are doing is matching the frequency of their voice to the frequency of the glass, causing it to vibrate and eventually break.
So the resonator is designed to take out certain frequencies that cause drone or a resonance frequency in your car. And LOL to people who say "Drone does not exist, quit being a *****" or something like that. Just because you don't understand it, does not mean it does not exist haha.
Thanks,
Rick

Im in the same boat.
Stock 1JZ. 3in exhaust setup from turbo Y-pipe. 1 CAT 1 Resonator 2 Mufflers (all magnaflow)
It is droning like crazy from 1000rpm to 2800 rpm.
My shop said there is absolutely no room to put a J pipe / side branch
They also said the J pipe needs to be 37.7inch long to reduce the drone. (pretty f'ing long)
I was thinking if I can just remove one muffler and weld cap it to actual act as an Side branch Resonator. Can any exhaust expert chime in here regarding this idea?? Would a single exhaust make it even louder/droner even with the other exhaust welded shut??
This is my last resort and I live cali (works near the CHP too GG)
