I've been thinking about trying a Transgo shift kit. There isn't a ton of feedback on it here on CL, and some of the info is contradictory. In addition to the above...

But, the SK340 looks to be the same kit as the 340-HD2, just without the drill bits and template. I asked a seller that question and was told I was correct, but also to check with Transgo directly. Transgo support sort of dodged the question at first, but eventually confirmed that they are the same springs and both kits are an upgrade from stock, with the 340-HD2 being more of an upgrade.

The reason they didn't answer the question straight away is the same reason the website describes the SK the way it does. Much of their business is geared toward rebuilding worn out components. They promote the HD2 as the off-road performance kit and the SK as the rebuild kit, but when questioned acknowledge that the SK is also a performance kit. They just don't like to mention that it offers firmer shifts, same as the HD2.

At $55-60 for the SK340, that's a tempting alternative to DIY shimming of the accumulators (especially if you're paying to have shims machined), needing a helper to hold the shimmed springs in place, worrying about the washers (shims) blocking the oil feed holes, etc. And, there are DIY instructions on SupraForums (pg 20, post 477) for drill bit sizes if you wanted to replicate the HD2's further improvements.

I remember having the same doubt about the differences between both at the time, but I didn´t had the drills template so, for me, would had be just an accumulators springs replacement. The difference was about $20 between both kits and the HD2 came with "more stuff" so I went with that one.
If springs have the same specs (the 1-2 spring is replaced by a solid cilinder) and you get the drills template, results should be the same; which, I can´t stop repeating, will change completely the cars behaviour.

I wish there was a way to quantify the extent of the complete changing of the car's behavior in gradients between the two kits... You know, like someone with multiple SCs in similar condition, or someone brave enough to repeatedly take apart their transmission and upgrade it in stages. I've never worked on a transmission before, other than shift boots and mounts, so even the base kit is a bit daunting for me.

it´s doable. First stage could be just changing the accumulators´s springs. That´s kinda easy and there´s no need to take the valve body off which gives much lesser ways to fail. The trans oil missed by doing this isn´t that much either.
