Default Random Steering wheel shakes

I've tried to do some research on this but all I can seem to find is peoples steering wheels shaking while driving. My steering wheel starts to shake like crazy when I am stopped at a stop light etc. Sometimes it happens ...sometimes it doesn't . If I move the wheel it will sometimes stop the problem... kinda strange.

I should add- car is a 99 SC300 with roughly 175K on it..

Sounds like your motor mounts are shot? I'm assuming you own an automatic. Try putting it into Neutral gear at a stop light. If the vibration lightens up, then your engine mounts are toast.

That's exactly it .... was going to say if I put it in neutral it lightens up a lot.

So what's the best approach to get this fixed? How much am I looking at?

Thanks for your help and advice!

Motor mounts can be purchased for about $100-150 a pair online. You will be charged 3-4 shop hours for the labor unless someone is going to be a nice.

Gotcha so it seems like it would be best to buy them online as appose to just having a shop do it outright.

I feel like I always get the screwjob when I take my SC to a shop around here....
