Default Bubbling noise??

Hey guys, 95sc300 fully stock. so here is whats happening.

I was parked under a tree waiting for a friend for about 30 mins. The car was idling, no abnormal noises, engine heat needle was where its supposed to be and the ac was blowing normal cold air, nothing out of the ordinary. I stopped the car and walked out to go inside when i heard a faint blub noise. Popped the hood and listened and the noise seems to be coming from the top of the engine where the "L" logo is (the plastic that covers the timing belt). It almost sounds like the oil is boiling inside the engine. The 'blub' sounds are spaced about 1 every 2-4 seconds. I'm pretty sure this isnt supposed to be happening. Any ideas what it could be.

I did some research and all i found was that the coolant might be boiling/leaking/low. I checked the coolant and its at the full line mark. Fan for the radiator is blowing.

Thanks

Sounds like a coolant issue to me , check the level when the car cools down. when was the last time you drain the system? what kind coolant you have in there? toyota ? aftermarket? did you mix it 50/50? a blown headgasket will do that and it will start pissing anti freeze from the overflow bottle.
and if the coolant is not mix properly it will do that too.
So if it was my car , i would drain the block and refill the whole system.

The coolant levels are good but im not sure what kind of a coolant is in it. I bought the car with it in it and i would assume its toyota coolant as i have all the service records of the car and everything has been done at a toyota dealership.

Im not that experienced when it comes to working with engines. This is only my second car and the first one was a crappy Hyundai so im still learning. Would you suggest doing the drain myself or have a mechanic do it?

Also is there a way to check for a blown headgasket short of taking apart the engine?

Thanks!

If you are not familiar with the car , I wouldn't recommend you do it, if you drain the block and fill it up w/o getting all the air out of the system , it will start to overheat.

But if you think you can do it , i can tell you how to do it and what you need to buy.

Your radiator cap failed. The cooling system is no longer holding pressure causing the coolant to boil. A liquid under pressure has a lower boiling point, so just burp your system and replace your cap! I've had to replace mine twice in the past 5 years.

I took the car to a mechanic today but could not duplicate the issue. drove the car about 5 times during the day too, didnt hear the noise. Not sure what it was but its gone now. ill keep the info in mind if it ever reappears unless there is something i need to do even though the noise isnt there anymore?

Thanks

Like said before, they're super cheap, definitely a good place to start.
