Default kaaz 2 way diff in 92 sc300?

well i just bought my very first sc300, and the guy who sold me the car said it had a kaaz 2 way diff in it. he didnt have any recipets to prove that though. while i was test driving and i went to go around corners from a stop it almost sounded like the rear wheels were almost hopping. i know what a welded diff sound like my friends with 240s have them, and it kind of sounds like that. does anyone else have this diff, and when i am going down the highway and i give it gas, the car pulls to the right and when i let off it straightens back out. any help is appreciated.

thankyou

billy

2-ways will act like a welded going around corners if you're on the gas or brakes enough, depending on the initial torque that the diff is set to. Easiest way to check would be to jack the rear end up and spin one wheel, and see if the other wheel spins with it or in the opposite direction. If with, then welded. If opposite, then most likely lsd (or open, but since you say the car makes welded-like sounds around corners, i'm sure it's safe to assume it's not open).
For the pulling, i'd check your alignment.

btw for the problem when going straight, simply check your tire pressure! 10psi of difference is enough to feel something, and the more difference between the two tires is, the more it will go left or right.

I learn it with a leaking tire with my cusco 1.5way diff! rear right was loosing air, so when I give it gas, the car was pulling to the right!

The same goes if you installed a spare tire in the rear that is not the same diameter size of your other rear wheel. When you do this, your diff will cry like a baby!

This is true, I have two spares on my car right now in the back, and the one on the left side is larger than the right (I was just using it for drifting) but it felt like total ***** (on a welded diff). It hopped and screeched driving in a straight line and wanted to pull to the right like there was no tomorrow. I recommend avoiding that at all costs

then again, I need new bushings everywhere really bad

anyways, thats interesting about a 2-way, I didnt know they locked up like that, never been in a car with one

i have the same rear in in my car, the way to tell for sure if its a welded or a unit, just clutch in when ur in gear while turing! if it fully disengages and there is no more noise, then u got a unit! if it continues then sadly its a welded open diff.....

I have a 1998 SC 300 and I am getting a P0446 error code and have not been able to track down the problem. I have replaced the gas cap, checked the relays for operation and next headed into the truck to look at the charcoal canster. Anyone got any other ideas?

Thanks!!
