Default SC300 Clunk Noise

Hi, I've been doing a lot of searching and research trying to find out what could be causing my clunk noise and cannot find anything, so if anyone has any suggestions, id really appreciate it. I have a 97 sc auto, and when i go to slow down to a stop, when i let off the gas at low speeds i hear and feel a clunk noise. It sounds like its coming from the trans possibly but im not sure. I can sort of feel it in the gas pedal also. Sometimes it seems like it will downshift hard as well, sort of like it shifts at the wrong rpm or something. It seems to do it more when in ECT normal, instead of ECT PWR, which im thinking is because it stays in 2nd gear more and doesnt go into 1st as much in PWR mode. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, I cant figure out what is wrong. I noticed this after i had a trans flush, and it also seems to make a whine noise when accelerating in first.

Worst case scenario, if it is my trans, would it be better to buy a used, or get the trans rebuilt? I plan to keep the car for a while as its my favorite car and eventually turbo it. Probably will do a built auto though instead of manual swap.

Thanks

Might I suggest you check the center bearing on the DS in the middle of the car.

Does it make the same noise when you put it in gear? If so could be your diff bushings which is what it was in my case.

Just put lexus trans mount in tonight, I had to jack the trans up like 2 inches or so to get it bolted back together. Is this normal?
Took it for a short drive and everything seemed a lot smoother, the engine was actually quieter lol. Didnt notice much of a clunk, but it did still clunk into drive a little bit. Didnt go over like 40though, ill drive it a bit more tomorrow, but so far it seems like it fixed a lot of my problems.

The diff bushings will almost always appear to be intact to the naked eye but 9 out of 10 times they are junk as they are waaaay to soft and rubbery so it can be super tough to diagnose those and if you do any type of spirited driving it will only get worse.

If you look through these pics of the stock bushings you will see that you need to drop the diff down some to get the full scope of how bad these can be however I replaced my diff bushings and my trans mount at the same time and the car is much more solid as in not squishy, I will try to get a you tube of how much the stock bushings really move which is a major problem with our cars as lexus designed them to be super soft and luxury like and yet there are people out there racing on stock worn out bushings which makes me cringe lol
