Default Distance Indicator?

Does anyone have something like this installed?
It's stock on my friends KIA. I think it's awesome having the data regarding distance remaining.
I've run out of gas many times, trying to find a gas station somewhere foreign to me, and it sucks.
I'm thinkin' about taking apart a KIA gauge cluster (or another car), and installing this someplace.

Anyone done it yet?

dude when ur light comes on u need gas. thts our distance indicator. i think this would be an update to the stock feature of the car but if ur running out of gas then ur just pushing ur luck. i think once the light goes on u have about 9-11 miles left.

it does look really cool though.

Those are notoriously unreliable anyway. I'm fine with the dummy light.

On my SS the numbers are constantly changing depending on speed and incline. On my Z below 20mile estimate it just says "low" anyway so it's pointless. On the other cars in our household it's not any better for accuracy. Maybe on a hybrid it would be useful but on any remotely performance oriented vehicle with big injectors, that number will swing so widely depending on your left foot it's worthless.

Im pretty sure on my car the light comes on with like 3 gallons left. though not positive ifs what the previous owner recorded in the glove box and hasnt failed me yet. Though i rarely ever let it get that low anyways. What ever happened to filling up at 1/4 tank?

even if you pulled a cluster apart, it wouldnt work. That number is a calculated value.

Then how many miles do we have when the light comes on (Regular vs Premium) ?

I do push my luck lol (on purpose).
It's silly, but it's an adventure to me, sometimes.
