Exclamation High idle on start up!

I have a question for u guys...
My 92 sc300, with over 170k miles..
On cold start up my car idles at around 1200 rpms tell i drive it for about 3-5mins then goes back to normal rpms when warm. It just recently started doing this.
Do u think its caused by carbon build up in my throttle body or something else?

Normal. I don't know why it just started doing it now but that's what the IACV does when coolant is cold. 3-5 minutes may be a little excessive but I'm guessing that's just an estimate on your end.

Its done it before when my alternator went out but since then its been normal, tell just recently.
Ive read that its normal but I wouldnt think its normal if it does it from time to time.
Heres what exactly happens...
I turn it on, it idles at 1200 rpms, i drop the ebrake put it into first and the car starts going without me pushing the gas. Once i push the gas the rpms drop to about 800 then I drive for about 3-5mins then stop, it goes back to normal rpm.

Does this occur on colder days or warmer days? You can try to clean out the IACV but I don't really see what could be wrong with it.

Its been over 100 degrees lately and my car is black, so the engine is kind of warm before i turn it on.
I will try cleaning it and see if that helps.
