Default Can the turbo front housing be rotated?

So this is my turbo, it does not fit as is, and I am not parting with this garret internal precision
Can the front housing in the photo be rotated at all if I unbolt it or will this cause damage. I'm new to the turbo world. So that the charged air outlet is rotated?

Yes , just loosen the 6 bolts behind the compressor cover and clock it whichever way you want.

Will this damage the turbine wheel at all? Do you mean these gold bolts on the top around the edges of the front housing?

Yes those gold bolts, it won't damage anything , don't take them all the way out just loosen them and you can rotate the compressor housing.

Oh I get it, the gold braces are only tightening and holding the housing to the inner part of the tubo. Excellent, thanks.

Yes but make sure that the center section oil inlet remains straight up.

Thats what I am looking at. To fit the turbo properly on my current manifold I need to do a 180 on the rear housing... How is it possible to have the oik inlet facing up when mounted on the manifold?

Ok I get it now. What I did was pointless, was a last ditch attempt at getting the turbo to not hit the cam cover. Although the front will come in handy later.

yeah that clocking would have put you right into the frame, unless you could get an angle welded on there.
