Default BFI Question.

Hey I'm looking into the bfi mod to gain some free hp. First of all, is this a janky modification? And secondly, I was wondering if it would be possible to cut the hole in the airbox without removing it from the car if I have a precise enough cutting tool? I figure I can remove the stock snorkel without removing the bumper or headlight as well. Thx for any help or insight.

I wouldnt advise cutting still intact and in the car. The dust particles go everywhere, just wouldnt risk it. The BFI gains is around 10-20 rwhp proven dyno gains with the increase on average of 1-2 MPG.. GL... JMO

If the only problem is dust particles, I think I can figure out a way around it. I just dont see the unnecessary removal of bumper and headlight. I just mainly also want to be assured this intake modification isnt bad for my car in the long run.
Is it reccomended to make a sealed off compartment in addition to cutting the hole?

The way I cut the hole was heating a curved piece of metal with a torch and used that to cut by melting. no dust, no disassembly
