Red face Help please!! (smoke at startup)

Hey guys i have been having a slight problem with my SC4 at start it throws white smoke but it is only at start but i researched and people say it could be the p/s pump or control valve but i think it is the pump because i always have to be filling up the resivor with P/S but don't know if it is that or not.

Hope to get feedback from you guys

What does the smoke smell like? Does it smell a little sweet? If so, that means that engine coolant is getting into the combustion chamber which could mean a leaking head gasket. However, a leaking head gasket would show up in your daily driving as well, and not just as startup.

Are you sure that the smoke is white? Or, is it a bluish-white? If that is the case, then it is probably your valve stem seals going bad. A tuft of smoke on startup after sitting is usually a sign that these seals are going bad.

The smell is not to sweet i have been checking the water on the radiator and stays the same and the oil is in need of some change but it has to do with the p/s because its only at start and it is not white while it does have a little hint of blue in it but its only at start up after that its good and it if it is sitting for more then 4 hours then it does it but if doesn't it doesn't throw out the smoke.

Any clue on what it can be?

It could be the power steering idle up switch if your ps hoses aren't leaking. when it breaks it sucks ps fluid into the intake, so you get the smoke, and your ps fluid disappears. See if your air filter has ps fluid behind it and in the piping.

OLT wrote a diy on fixing this, please do a search for it.

Also please use more descriptive thread titles in the future.
