Default Toyomoto Gasket info:

For anyone interested in knowing if the headgasket that Toyomoto sells is the same as the Toyota Supra TT head gasket, the official answer: I don't know. But here is what I've got:

Only lettering on the gasket is jmg262 with a white "1" letter after it.

The layering is:

layer 1 black coating on side facing up, copper core, bare copper face on other side. (THIN)

layer 2 black coating on side facing up, copper core, bare copper face on other side. (THIN)

layer 3 black coating on both sides (THICK) silver metal material (steel?)

layer 4 bare copper on side facing up, copper core, black coating on other side (THIN)

layer 5 black coating on both sides (THICK) silver metal material (steel?)

layer 6 bare copper on side facing up, copper core, black coating on other side (THIN)

Its all riveted together in four places. I imagine this is a key element to get the alignment correct for proper sealing.

Price $350, perhaps a little less if bought with a kit. Is it made with Supra MKIV gasket parts?? Very probably. Two Supra TT gaskets are gonna cost a minimum of $250 plus shipping so $350 is a good deal for the proper assembly and piece of mind.

So to recap, there are:

6 layers

thin
thin
thick
thin
thick
thin

I believe the only difference is that Larry leaves one of the thin ones out, which would raise compresison very very slightly.

Thompson Charm has the DIY version, I have the Toyomoto gasket but as of yet neither of us has a vehicle running. I'll be ready sometime after the new year (budget permitting).
