Default how hard of a job is it for a exhaust shop to swap out cats?

I'm going to be taking my car to an exhaust shop soon to switch out two bad cats. Does anyone know how hard it is for them to swap them with two magnaflow hi flows? Expensive job? Thx

Not really that hard, just need to cut and re weld the new one ones. Fairly simple for an exhaust shop. Unless it's an IS300 where the catalytic converters are a part of the header, that's a little bit more difficult.

I am surprised they don't make a adapter that hooks up to are exhaust where the cats go but its just straight pipe.

My 93 has Stainless Steel exhaust pipe and components. I rather like the SS as my system is 20 years old and showing not the slightest sign of rust....anywhere. Point being...these stock systems are superbly durable. See if Aliga..Gazi...can't fix you up with good used factory converters.

I carefully cut the front "plate" away from the center section of my system. I left in tact the union of the two pipes that are inside the"resonator", and no it isn't a converter, and did the same to the rear end piece. I then welded a pipe into the system. The old system was like a glass pack...pipe with holes drilled all thru it and that cover with a bigger pipe and the void filled with SS course wool. From that modification I got an exhaust with a rich warm note that just grows in volume with any throttle applied. *****"n....as those of my generation used to say. Glass packs are notorious for crating back pressure so I must have gained power and MPG, even if it was a tiny amt. Like they tell the Doc.s....first do no harm. Right?... Doc?

Cost me $125.

i would just add flanges to a new cat therefore no more added cost for new cats and you can add a test pipe for sound whenever you want.
