Default 1JZ VVTI harness & ecu compatibility HELP

Buddy has a non VVTI 1J motor and trans, minus the harness and ecu. I found a VVTI harness and ecu for sale, would like to know if it would work on the non VVTI motor and if so what would have to be done? I did do a search but didn't come up with a definitive answer.

it's not worth the trouble IMO.

Are you gonna be auto or manual?

If it's manual trans, I would do a 2jzgte ECU and Harness on it make things easier for ECU option down the road.

That's the same thing Freed Engineering told me yesterday, said it would be around $1000 for the modded 2jzgte harness. It's a manual.
