I've put about 700 miles or so on the setup now. So far it's been great. I initially filled the trans with some cheapo fluid temporarily in case I ran into any issues and had to drain it. WIth 700 successful miles under her belt, I feel comfortable now and I'll be draining and refilling with Amsoil this weekend.

For reference sake, today I checked my MPH vs. RPM. So this is the 350z trans with an SC430 rear end in 6th gear cruising on the freeway. This is the GPS measured speed and the tach gauge displayed RPM (however accurate that gauge is):

60mph = ~2000rpm
70mp = ~2300rpm

awesome, a 3.26 rear end is what my goal is too, i am running the stock sc400 one right now at 3.92 so my rpms are going to be a good bit higher. working on welding the shifter extension right now and gotta start figuring out the 1jz vvti wiring extension for the ECU.

what are you doing for speed signal (if anything)?

Right now nothing. I just go with the flow of traffic. If I really want to know how fast I'm going I can see it on my stereo GPS, or I just use a speed phone app.

a 4 inch extension to the shifter:

I do NOT like how the shifter feels right now. that is a bit of a shame.. I will try to extend the pivot point to make the shifts a bit shorter but going into reverse is going to be an eternal annoyance i'm afraid, unless I just remove the spring and wager on the fact that it wont go into reverse when I am in 5th going into 6th (at least my Hyundai just grinds when I try to go to 6th sometimes..)

EDIT:
could you get away with only extending the shifter like 3"? looks like theres some room near the bezel towards the cupholder. or if you didnt use the shiftboot bezel would you even have to extend it?

im waiting on my clutch/flywheel setup from collins right now. 2.5 weeks is killing me. i want my car. friends doing my swap while im in tech school so i need to tell him what i want done. so glad all these z33 swaps are happening right as i begin mine.

You still need to move it forward even if you don't use a shift bezel on my car. Otherwise moving the shifter back (i.e. 2nd, 4th, 6th) you hit the console divider piece right in front of the cup holder. Plus keep in mind the left-right travel of this setup is further due to it being a 6spd with reverse even further right.

Do I really need the 350z flywheel for height reason or can I just mod my flywheel to except a z33 clutch?

The people who have done this swap into their vehicle. I have noticed after a lot of research, I saw that Jim Wolf Technology who adapted the CD009 transmission to the KA24DE and SR20DE motor. They used the auto bell housing (modified it), dissembled the one piece CD009 transmission casing/bell housing, put their own plate on there and use the auto transmission bell housing to bolt up to their motor of choice. It would have been WAY easier for JWT to make an adapter plate. Why didn't they?

I would infer that they didn't because they wanted to make that transmission a lot closer the engine to get the shifter (even shortened) a lot closer to the factory location within the s-chassis. The limiting factor here would be the transmission input shaft. It can only get so close to the flywheel. My question for you guys who have the transmission in front of you and have access to it. Is there more room to spare if you made your own custom bell housing the same way JWT did? Did JWT actually gain precious inches to shifter the transmission closer to the engine?

The 350Z & Infiniti G came with a very strong 6-Speed transmission that is starting to show up more and more at the auto recyclers, making for a reasonably priced option for other high-powered Nissans. Unfortunately, it sports an integrated bell housing, making this conversion difficult at best. By scrounging an automatic tranny bell housing from an automatic that was fitted to the same motor you are adapting to, this adaptor ties everything together. Either the 07+ 350Z Concentric Release Bearing or an aftermarket C.R.C. (Tilton) can be used. The no longer used VQ35 bell housing is cut away and the new adaptor replaces the original front sealing cover. This adaptor can mount a 6-Speed to a VG30DE(TT), SR20DE, KA24DE, or VH45DE engine. Adaptors for the VK56 and others will be available soon after the release of this adaptor. Contact Ben for release date or other information. 619 442-0680

I ran through the majority of the thread, but wasn't able to find a list of everything needed for this swap.

Do we have one compiled somewhere and did I just miss it?

Winter is here, car is getting put up and I convinced myself I want to go this route. Just looking for that parts list so I can buy EVERYTHING and do the entire swap in a weekend (wishful thinking).

So how are the projects coming along 2jzcoupe, estomax, and halon? I got in touch with Maverick Motorsports and he said he is working on his clutch and flywheel setup right now. Any feedback from being on the road with all of the different setups? Thanks alot everyone!

if you removed the center console dividing plastic part, and the cupholder, would you be able to keep the stock shifter or would it still need to be modified?
