z33:
1st Gear Ratio 3.79:1
2nd Gear Ratio 2.32:1
3rd Gear Ratio 1.62:1
4th Gear Ratio 1.27:1
5th Gear Ratio 1.00:1
6th Gear Ratio 0.79:1

w58:
First Gear: 3.285:1
Second Gear: 1.894:1
Third Gear: 1.275:1
Fourth Gear: 1.00:1
Fifth Gear: 0.783:1

crazy how identical the last 3 gears are. what i've read about the w58 and the 3.91 your around 3krpms at 60mph in 5th.... kind of a bummer to me personally, but i would imagine 1st and 2nd being quite fun with 200wtq from basically idle! seems you gotta go with a 3.76 or 3.26 when going manual with these cars

Good point!
Even the 3.76 would be borderline too short. In stock Z's with a 3.55 rear, first gear is darn near useless because of how quickly you need to shift. On SC's making over 250rwhp, I wouldn't consider anything besides the 3.26. It's fairly close to Nissan's 3.3 auto which is a very common swap for people pushing boost.

did some more searching as this interests me now.

i used this calculator i found that uses excel and put in the gearing for the 3.91 and z33 and the 3k rpm thing was for 70mph not 60mph.
http://www.diffsonline.com/techinfo/...Calculator.xls

also your not going to hit 60 in 2nd unless you switch to a 3.26 and thats near redline, something to think about using the z33.

I WANT!!!

I'm more interested in the shifter. I would like to see this adapter for the shifter.

That shifter housing is too long , it will come through your armrest lol, you may be able to shorten the rod and cut couple inches of the shifter bracket , and that will move it a couple inches forward.

Wow I will really need to swap my Rear end then. I got the 4.08 auto rear gearing. did i just read that MK3 supra diffs fit? I thouht only MK4 diffs were bolt on, and i never though about length. in pictures it looked about that same as the R154 shifter extension so i thought it would be about right lenght. More info on the clutch setup and stuff would be nice

No the MK3 does not fit. MK4's GS300 (JZ147) all fits

Glad to see we can use a Short shifter for the Z with this swap. now what about speed sensor with this trans? and also since its a six speed is there a Reverse lockout to stop you from going into reverse instead of 6th when driving>?

Reverse lock out requires the original shifter plate which didn't come with the trans I bought. I'm done with the swap and been driving it for a week and I doubt that you can engage reverse after fifth gear. Trans shifts great at any rpms but I am using the "cd009" version. For anyone that is not familiar its the revised version which nissan released in 2006.

I would not use anything from 2005 and earlier just as a precaution.

Gearing is very short with the stock early sc400 differential. I might swap it with a late model sc400/gs400

I'm crusing 50mph at 2k rpms in 6th gear. But it does accelerate very quick.

Very solid trans so far.
