Default Transmission jerking on sc400

Hey guys, just got an sc4 as a gift, it needs work but i'm will to try to fix things up. first things first, i dont know too much about cars but im a hands on type of dude.
the car has 213xxx miles, is a 94' and the tranny fluid is good. When I shift it into anything the car jerks, shifts gears fine though. Mainly jerks when I pout it into drive. Can it be my motor mounts? Something clogged up?
What are the causes of the tranny jerking? no check engine light on either.

thanks in advance.

Also, are they any vids on how to change the valve cover gaskets on these cars, or something similiar?

Not a vid but this'll work; http://http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/engine/valvecover.html

If yours is an auto, problem might be a combination of throttle position sensor, tranny/engine mounts, bushings and tranny fluid. I'll post a link about the TPS when I get home, I'm on my phone right now.

Thank you so much, and yes it's an auto. If the tranny turns out bad or ends up crapping the bed, will try to convert to manual. Can maybe tightening the mounts work? If so, where are they located, sorry if i'm asking for too much

mine did this and it was kinda like a sign of worse things to come when you let your foot off the gas does it creep forward quickly? also when you are going about 40mph and you let your foot off the gas does it slow down to a stop or will it just keep going?

When I changed my trans mount it made a noticeable difference. The clunking went away after I changed the mount. Then I decided to change the engine mounts as well. It idles so smoothly even with 300,000. Changing the mounts is worth the money and time. Its not too difficult either.

As for re-installing the gasket and pan to the trans, I threaded the bolts through the gasket to keep the gasket from sliding out of place while your trying to install. Not all of them just enough to keep it in place.
