Default W58 or R154 transmission?

I've had this goal for a while to do a 5-speed transmission swap and its been a year, so I should definitely start collecting the necessary parts for this. I am leaning towards to taking it to the track for track days in the near future. But which transmission should I go for? A 5-speed W58 tranny or R154 tranny?

My SC300 is a NA 2jzge motor, if that helps...
Its just that I am worried if I take the R154 route, I would have to do some more complicated tasks since the R154 tranny isn't really designed for the SC's driveshaft assembly. Or is it?

I've been searching this up on the forum for quite a while but I am still not satisfied with the answers that are given already in the previous threads similar to this. Sorry if its one of these threads again.

What are your power goals? If it is more than 400 rwhp then definitely go with the R154 instead of the W58 since the latter can hardly handle the beating like the R154. For the R154 to swap into the SC you would need the R154 tranny from the Mk3, the front half of the Supra drive shaft, the R154 slave cylinder, 1jz bellhousing, flywheel and clutch along with getting the shifter extended since the SC is a longer vehicle. Or find you the rare Soarer R154 with the tripod and you wont have to get the tranny shifter extended.

Currently not much as of right now but maybe a T4 turbo kit or T70. But I am most likely going to have to do an engine swap with a turbo 2jzge while on the process of doing the transmission swap.

Also I am guessing with a T4 or T70 kit, I should take the R154 route yes?

Also I have another question about the ECU. Is there a specific one that I should get for my '98 SC? Or as long as it is a M/T for 2jzge???

Go ahead and do the r154 swap and save you the time and money to do it later. Also of you are swapping to the 2jzge non vvti motor then I think you have to get the ecu as well and wire it up accordingly.

Thanks for the help cuong
Oh yeah one more question. Sorry about all these questions dude, but I've read that I should get an OBD2 ECU for my '98 SC. But how can I clarify correctly on the ecu if it is a OBD2 or OBD1? I just dont want to buy the wrong one since most likely I am going to have to look for this on fleabay...

EDIT: I have just decided to swap my transmission to a 5-speed R154 with my 2jz-ge. I know its not a 2jz-gte but I'll swap it to that eventually.

Need help in regards with this 5-speed ecu that I've heard from another thread. Just need confirmation if it is really true. Will an 5-speed 2jz-ge OBD2 ecu work on a '98 SC300? It has been stated that it'll work with '96+ Sc300s
