Default Putting it down.

Ok im at this stage wondering a few things. I ran a search on rear differentials and came across the discussion of the MK4 TT rear end swapping out for mine? Is this direct?

Also, what do you think is an easier approach. Buying a Low mile MK4 TT rear end that a friend of mine located in canada for a whopping $50 and just isntalling that. or just take my rear end to a performance shop and have them install the 3.13/3.27 ring and pinion set in there with Limited slip. If that is even possible.

The SC300 rear end and the MKIV TT 6 spd rear end are totally different. The actual carrier and diff assembly is compatible with the TT auto, though. The TT 6spd has a different yoke, so even the drive shaft is different from the SC300/ TT auto.

So, if you're gonna do the TT 6spd swap (the strongest parts) you'll need to do axles, the entire diff, and the driveshaft will have to be a modded MKIV 6 spd shaft.

You can simply drop the LSD into your existing SC300 components, and keep your existing ring and pinion. This is not as strong, but is simple. I'd leave the swap to an expert, its not all that involved, but you have to know exactly what you are doing as far a preloads for the components within the diff. I'd leave it to an experienced Lexus or Toyota tech.

not quite what i was asking but that got some of it. i more meant. will the MK4 TT Rear end swap in place of my old unit? i know the yoke is different but im looking at getting a Getrag 6 along with the rear end and teh driveshaft just comes free of charge. i know it isnt simple but it isnt most likely too impossible. If i were going to have the rear end built id have a pro do it anyway...i lack a lot of the equipment.
